Magical Day Unicorn Shaker

Hello friends!

Today I'd like to share a card I made for my daughter's friend. She loves unicorns, so naturally I wanted to make her a unicorn card!

First, I stamped and cut out the gorgeous unicorn and foliage from the Neat & Tangled Magical Day stamp set and coloured them with Copics. I added lots of sparkle to the mane and tail using a Tonic Aqua Shimmer Pen. It's a little hard to capture in photos but in person it looks so sparkly! I put these aside while I made the rest of the card.

I started off by doing some ink blending to create a soft purple background. For this I used the shaded lilac distress oxide ink. I spritzed some water onto it and soaked it up with some paper towel.

Once it was dry, I ran it through my die-cutting machine using MFT Essential Cover-Up Vertical. I kept the two rectangle shapes and discarded the rest. Next I sprayed them with Tsukineko Sparkle Sheer Shimmer Spritz which adds an amazing amount of sparkle and left them to dry.

I decided I wanted to make a shaker card to have some shimmery sequins floating around behind the unicorn so I die-cut 5 pieces of smooth white card stock using the same die, to create a frame. I adhered 4 of these together to give enough height for the shaker element. Next I took the top piece and attached some clear acetate to the back of it and put it aside.

The sentiment from the same stamp set was heat embossed in silver, onto the smallest rectangle.

Now it was time to assemble everything together! I adhered the stack of 4 pieces of frame to the card base and then stuck the purple background pieces inside. A selection of coordinating sequins and translucent hearts was sprinkled into each cavity and then I attached the top piece.
Lastly I adhered the unicorn and foliage images to the top and the card was finished!

That's all for today, thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
